Suwon Samsung were founded in 25 years ago, and are now one of the most successful sides in Asia, with four league titles and two AFC Champions League wins to their name. Suwon’s academy was formed in 2007, and their youth development philosophy focuses on skill, mentality and humanity. Seven of Suwon Samsung’s former youth team players now represent the senior Korean national team.

Suwon made their Al Kass debut last year, and were somewhat unlucky to be drawn against Real Madrid and Spartak Moscow in the group stage. Even so, they performed well in their opener to force a 1-1 draw against the Spanish giants, before succumbing 3-1 to a physical Russian side. Their aim this year will be to reach the knockout phase, and they can be assured of the support of fellow countryman Koo Ja-cheol, former captain of South Korea who is currently playing for Al Gharafa in the QNB Stars League.
